THE WHAT, THE WHERE AND THE HOW
THE WHAT
Microsoft’s Lync 2013 is a unified communications tool which the NMMU has chosen to adopt to facilitate online communication and collaboration between the staff and student community.
As a student, Lync can be used to communicate with your lecturers and fellow students alike. You can make a Lync-Lync call to a lecturer, or fellow student, or simply drop them an IM message.
THE WHERE
The Lync client is needed for your PC, which is already pre-loaded on all NMMU computers.
For home use, the basic Lync client is available online for free.
Microsoft Lync Basic 2013 gives you instant messaging (IM), audio and video calls, online meetings, availability (presence) information, and sharing capabilities all from one, easy-to-use program. It’s a slimmer version of the full Lync 2013 client and provides the same core functionality.
